Robotic Nintendo licks? Empty Robotic Nintendo licks?

Hey man just wanna say i love your dexterity with finger tapping, some may think its slop or useless, but i love the creativity.

I seen your Insane shredd or whatever it was called video.
I watch it once in a while when im drunk to hear something different lol.

But i bought your online book or one of your lessons.
But in it, it was all just Warm up practice routine stuff, majority of it was chromatic exercise.
I got alot out of your perception of guitar in warm up sense, i mean playing chromatic 1-2-3-4 fingers, and i liked the idea of switching it up not always going 1-2-3-4 maybe 2-3-4-1 , 2-3-1-4 , 2134, 2143 ect ect how you tabbed out all the possibly ways to play a chromatic lick starting with a different note and all the possible combinations.

But what i really wanted to see were some Tabs for some of those multiple finger tapped robotic nintendo sounds you play at lightening speed.

After watching your video, there really only a couple i can comprehend and imitate on my own after watching the video.

Code:

e---------------------------12-14-15-17----------------
--------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------12-14-15-17-----
-----------------12-14-15-17---------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------
E---12--14--15-17--------------------------------------

Above, its just a 12 fret , 14 fret and 15 fret that is played, and you tap the 17th fret in each line, now how you tap it is up to you, you could play the 12-14-15 first n end on a tap, or maybe tap the 17th first then play the 12-14-15 then finish with a tap on each line.
Either way mess around u get this weird bubbley type chromatic robot sound, u did it in your video thats how i picked it up.

I guess im just really into finger tapping, and which is what lead me to buying your ebook there.

After i kinda found this other cool tapping lick, which uses your basic A blue pentatonic box shape in the traditional position... with tapping the 10 and 12th frets of each string as u play the box shape, once speeded up it sounds cool.

Code:
e-----------------5-8------------------------10-12----------
---------------5-8--------------------------10-12-------------
------------5-7-------------------------10-12-----------------
---------5-7------------------------10--12---------------------
------5-7-----------------------10-12-------------------------
E--5-8---------------------10--12------------------------------

This is about the extend of my Fast tapping abilities, and im trying to learn more or piece something together....

AS much as i can gather...for this pentatonic lick.. the tapped notes on the 10-12 frets... all align within notes in the C major scale...

So where im at, im taking this Standard A pentatonic box shape.. and im playing it all shifted down one position...
And accordingly i take my Taped notes.. all those 10-12 fret tapped notes and shift them DOWN accordingly to stay with in the key of C major...

And then i get this...lol

Code:
e---------------------3-5---------------------------8-10-----------
------------------3-5---------------------------8-10--------------
--------------2-5---------------------------9-10------------------
-----------2-5--------------------------9-10----------------------
--------3-5------------------------8-10-------------------------
E---3-5------------------------8-10--------------------------------

Not sure if this makes sense to anyone
sure its sunday morning and im already piss drunk.
gotta start somewhere i guess.

But this about all i can figure for this cool tapping shredding technique...
Other then this if i tape a note its like playing something really fast on one stright, and then bouncing around tapping various higher notes on the same string just higher up the fret board, and yea i can make some cool sounding shit.

But i can't seem to find this Bubbily weird snappy pop sound which you create in your robotic shred video there.

I believe it has something to do with not using multiple fingers, and possibly not adding in chromatic tapped notes..

so anyways the Question here is Do you have any tabs or can you just Create a Quick cheap TAB?
as an example or maybe 2 or more of some common or basic tapping licks that you use to achieve your robotic sound.

Maybe its like giving away your secret or something, i dunno, but i seen tons of guys on youtube doing this, but you seem to be the only one willing to help out and give advice.

I understand theres some sort of secret code here that once u get so good on guitar u dont wanna give away all your secrets, but maybe u can show something here maybe just make up a gay lame example that u hardly ever use then that way u dont have to feel threatened that someones gonna steal your ideas for tapping haha i dunno man im just talking.

anyways, if this make sense post something cool , give us something to practice or work on.

At the time being im kinda going away from learning other peoples songs. and im just gonna start doing your chromatic exercises, with all the possible fingers for a chromatic run, up n down the strings, then vertically then horizontally ect ect. that seems to really tighten up my picking and conscious dexterity and keep me in time. then when i go practice some triplets or quarter notes, its much easier
yea im just ranting.
anyways over n out i gotta go rub one out and get some motivation to play guitar.

I tend to do a couple different things that all yield the nintendo type of sound. The bubbly one I think you are talking about is this lick:

Code:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------19-14-21-16-23-18---
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------18-13-20-15-22-17--------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------16-11-18-13-20-15-------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------15-10-17-12-19-14------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------14-9-16-11-18-13-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
13-8-15-10-17-12--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then reverse/retrograde the entire thing back down.

The bubbly tone comes from very hard tapping and hard pulling from each tap. I use my index, middle and ring finger on the tapping hand for this lick. The trick to getting enough strength into the taps is to use your tapping hand itself to hit down each tap it seems to come more from the arm than the wrist for this taping. You do need to make sure that even though you are using the arm to force the taps hard and pull off hard, you are using each finger during the tap and not just slamming them all down.

When you do it right it will feel more like you are playing both hands at the same time because of the fast tapping to each pulloff right after. You can get this sort of thing really quick, The selection of notes, the strength of the tapping and the speed give it the bubbly tone.

Good luck with it!

The first lick you mentioned is actually something I showed to Tony Smotherman during a skype jam a while back.

It uses three notes from each hand but they play different strings. The tapping hand always plays one string lower than the fretting hand. This sort of stuff happens so fast that it is pretty tough to even pick out what is actually going on by ear or even slowing it down.. especially with my large meat hand blocking the camera angle.

I was doing a tapping lesson at jamplay and even with their 5 cameras going at all angles there was trouble seeing everything I was doing at the same time. I think we are going to be giving the taping of my tapping stuff another shot with better preparation sometime soon.

That was me!

That is how I got the nickname robot actually. way back then. I would only type using binary and spend hours on the mic making weird guitar sounds.

Do you have any idea of theres another Guitar chat room similar to the old yahoo one?

I haven't been on yahoo in years, no idea if they re-added the User CreatedGuitar room feature or not.

Or maybe if everyone went to a different site somewhere?

I had good times playing in there, listening to others play and talk smack lol was hilarious.
